Especially here, where antique, classic and one-of-a-kind wonders coexist in an automotive time warp. Stroll down period street scenes. Explore decades of intriguing automobiles. Mt. Rose Ski Resort
22222 Mt. Rose Highway
Reno, Nevada, 89511
800.SKI.ROSE
Since 1930, long before the present Mt. Rose Highway was built, or even chairlifts were constructed, Reno and Washoe County locals have been skiing in the area currently known as Mt. Rose - Ski Tahoe. Shortly after World War II, a lodge called Sky Tavern was built in the area where a few surface lifts had been operating since the late 30's. Sky Tavern was, and continues to be located on the Mt. Rose Highway (SR 431), 11 miles west of US 395, just south of Reno. Eventually this historic ski lodge would be sold to the City of Reno where it still operates the cityâs Junior Ski Program.
Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center
1664 N Virginia St
Reno, NV 89557
(775) 784-4812
Fleischmann Planetarium is part of the University of Nevada, Reno and Extended Studies. We offer public star shows and large-format films showing daily in our dome theater, and public star observing courtesy of the Astronomical Society of Nevada. Built in 1964 and originally called the “Fleischmann Atmospherium-Planetarium,” we were the first planetarium in the world to project full-dome movies (of time-lapse clouds and weather phenomena).

Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts
100 South Virginia St.
Reno, NV 89501
(775) 686-6610
Once completed in 1968, the Pioneer Center quickly became a focal point of cultural activity in our community. In addition to facilitating orchestral, ballet, opera and general interest programs, PCPA has hosted its own Broadway Comes to Reno series for the last twelve years. This year, we expect season subscriptions to reach 4,000 patrons.
Galena Creek Park

Nestled in a forested area on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, Galena Creek Park is seven miles up the Mt. Rose Highway from the intersection with U.S. 395. Galena Creek flows through the park creating separate north and south portions of the park. Campfire programs, ranger-led hikes, and exhibits in the old stone visitor's center add to the diversity of the park.
